Wayne's Story

Lifelong Duncan/Comanche resident Wayne "Speedy" Hansel Brown went home to be with the Lord September 12, 2017, at a Lawton hospital after a short illness.
"Speedy" was born June 10, 1926, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Leonard Eli and Ethel May Brown. He attended Comanche High School and graduated with honors in 1944. He enlisted in the United States Navy in June 1944. He served as a Seabee at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and then at Okinawa, Japan, until his honorable discharge on June 17, 1946.
He returned home to Duncan, Oklahoma, where he built a successful farming and ranching business, and raised his family. He was an annotator in the farming and ranching industry, receiving many accolades.
Wayne married Sue Ledford on June 30, 1977. in that same year they both surrendered their lives to Christ, and faithfully served Him as members of Praise Assembly, Comanche, Oklahoma.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ethel Brown, his brother, Bob Brown, nephew, Joe Brown, and a multitude of aunts, uncles and cosine too numerous to name individually.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sue Brown, of the home, three daughters; Teresa Brown and Lindy Brown, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Nita Brown Williamson(husband Brent), Pampa, Texas, two sons: Todd Churchman (wife, Holly), Comanche, Oklahoma, and Brian Churchman (wife, Ruth), Duncan, Oklahoma, two nephews: Mike Brown, Wichita Falls,Texas, and Kris Brown, The Colony, Texas, eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma on Monday September 25th at 2:00 p.m.
