Billy's Story

Billy Max McQuain, age 87, died peacefully at home on October 4, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosella Carey McQuain, their son, Douglas McQuain of the home and daughter Amy Florence and her husband Tim of West Alexander, PA.  He is also survived by his beloved granddaughters, Joey Blackburn and her wife Amy of New York City; Rebecca Kramer and her husband Jason and great granddaughter Amy Elizabeth of Marlborough CT; and Rachel Stephenson of Palisades Park NJ.  He is also survived by a sister, Barbara Withiam and nieces and nephews.

Bill was born in Payne County, OK August 26, 1930 and grew up near Guthrie, OK.  He served in the Marine Corps being stationed in Japan.  Bill attended Oklahoma A & M after the Marine Corps and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Accounting.  He passed his CPA exam on the first try; and immediately went to work for Halliburton.  He spent his 35 year career doing auditing and accounting work for Halliburton, traveling around the world.  He spent 7 years in Arbroath Scotland as an Accounting Manager for the Western Hemisphere. Upon his return from Scotland, Bill was the accounting manager for domestic operations at Halliburton.

Bill served his community through his work with the Lions Club and as a member of the Duncan Board of Education for 7 years.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Treasurer.  Bill loved his church, his family, his friends and his beloved OSU Cowboys.

A memorial service is planned for October 11, 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church, Duncan.  Memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church, Duncan would be welcomed in lieu of flowers.
