Duncan - Alma Rebecca Ballard, 93, passed away on May 27, 2025, in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Visitation will be available to the public from noon until 7 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. Alma's family will receive guests from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home with Elder Norman Jones and Elder Keith Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Creek Cemetery.
Alma was born Feb. 23, 1932, to Emmett T. Cook and Mary Evie (Maniord) Cook. She enjoyed playing basketball and going to the movies in the small town she graduated from, Mountain Park, Oklahoma, where she was born and raised. Alma married the love of her life, H.O. Ballard, in Mountain Park Feb. 24, 1950. They shared 60 wonderful years together before H.O.'s passing Nov. 22, 2010. Alma was both a minister's wife and homemaker and she worked tirelessly to care for her family, whether that was making clothes for her children or supporting her husband in his career. Alma was a talented seamstress and artist and created beautiful works in her clothing and paintings. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, solitaire and reading in her free time, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She loved them all so very much. Her favorite holidays were Christmas and especially Thanksgiving when she would have the honor of hosting her family. Alma was a devoted Christian and she was a member of the Marlow Primitive Baptist Church. Her presence will be deeply missed in the lives of her family and community.
Alma is survived by: her son Pagon Ballard and wife Kathy; three daughters: Aletha Hudson and husband Brad, Rebecca Elam and Alan McDaniel and Regina Mengers; seven grandchildren: Billie and Lamar Powers, Scotty and Jessica Hudson, Geralyn and David Epstein, Sarah and Robert Vazquez, Diane and Howard Boss, Katrina and Nezih Hasanoglu and Cheyenne and Alisha Mengers; great-grandchildren Noah and Andy Hudson, Mason Powers, Aubrey and Emily Boss, Robby Vazquez, Don and Rafael Epstein, Nezih and Cruz Hasanoglu and Brooklyn, Oliver, Jais, Brynlynn and Avalei Mengers; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Emmet and Evie Cook; husband H.O. Ballard; sister Imergean Robinson; and son-in-law Cliff Mengers.
Pallbearers will be Alma's grandsons: Cheyenne Mengers, Scotty Hudson, Robert Vazquez, Howard Boss, David Epstein and Lamar Powers.
