Duncan - Alton Hutto, 93, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Elk Crossing.

Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors. Family visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Alton was born in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia to William and Melissa Corrine (Yaughn) Hutto Oct. 19, 1931. He drove a truck for the Georgia Express in Cordele, Georgia before entering the United States Army in 1951. He was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and would make trips over to Duncan on the weekends. While here, he met Clairece Ruth Shorter. They married Jan. 11, 1952. They were together for 73 years until her death May 18, 2025. He served in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War until his discharge Feb. 12, 1953, and then joined the United States Army Reserve where he served until 1956. He drove the city buses in Duncan, Oklahoma and started work for Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company in 1953. He worked in MRD and also formed the graphics department at Halliburton. He retired from Halliburton in 1989. During his time at Halliburton, he served as Associate Pastor with the Rev. Curtis Ledbetter for 35 years.

He leaves behind his beloved daughter Sharon and son-in-law Kent Arrington and daughter-in-law Sandie Hutto. He also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild: Michelle, Brian and Weston Spurgin; Kevin and Adrianne Arrington; LeeAnn, Jeffrey and Booker Bowers; Cory, Kristina, Nickolas, Kayleigh and Logan Hutto; Jarrod, Elizabeth, Anna and Andrew Hutto; Chase, Liz, Aden and Easten Hutto; Kristen, Jacob, Jacob Jr. Reyna and Ethan Nehl; Reba, Chris, Whitley, Blakley, Emmley, Julie and Lucas Ezzell; sister Wenell Lilly; brother-in-law Kenneth Brooks and sister-in-law Carolyn Shorter.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Henry and Melissa Corrine Hutto; his wife Clairece Ruth Shorter Hutto; son Timothy Mark Hutto; great-grandson Kody Wes Arrington; brothers: Braddie, William James, Tommy and Bill; and sister Mert.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Kevin Arrington, Cory Hutto, Jarrod Hutto, Chase Hutto, Weston Spurgin and Aden Hutto.
