Angie Randolph Obituary
Duncan - Angie Randolph, 88, passed away on Friday, April 25 at Duncan, Oklahoma. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the First Christian Church in Duncan. Burial will be in the Columbarium at the First Christian Church under the direction of the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Cremation and Funeral Services in Marlow, Oklahoma. Angeline (Angie) Mae Newman was born at Claude, Stephens County, Oklahoma to Denver L. (D.L.) and Viola Newman at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 1936, on one of the hottest days ever recorded in Oklahoma. Angie and her six siblings were raised to love the Lord and to love working and playing on the family farm. She graduated from Doyle High School in 1954 and began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. Angie later left the telephone company and went to work at Halliburton on their switchboard. On July 18, 1958, Angie married Kenneth Ray Randolph, the love of her life. Their love endured for 58 years until Kenneth's death in 2016. Angie and Kenneth had two children, Andrea Daughtrey and Timothy Randolph. Angie continued to work for Halliburton until she and Kenneth partnered with Angie's sister Helen Thomas in 1978 to purchase Flowers by Bob. During those years, they began and operated a catering business for weddings and special events. In 1988, Angie became Grammy to her much beloved and only grandchild, Jared B. Schasteen. Following Kenneth's retirement as general manager of Elks Lodge and Country Club, in the mid 1990s, Angie and Kenneth were employed by a senior living corporation, and that adventure took them from Montreal, Canada to Boca Raton, Florida and points in between as they managed senior care facilities. After a few years, they returned to Duncan where they once again worked with Helen at Nita's Flowers and Gifts in Marlow. Angie loved her family, and she lovingly and tirelessly cared for Kenneth at home during the years he struggled with the symptoms of Alzheimer's. Angie also helped her siblings care for their beloved mother, Viola, at home before her passing in 2010. Farm life was difficult, but the gardens were abundant as was the creativity and generosity. Her mother, Viola, made beautiful quilts and award-winning homemade soaps. Viola had a beautiful voice and recorded a record of a gospel song. Her father D.L. was a gifted artist, as well as a carpenter. D.L. built a sorghum mill, grew cane and made molasses. The family was always eager to share their abundance, and helped nurture their community spiritually, and in any other way they could. This fostered in Angie a sense of empathy, adventure and generosity. She was the first of her siblings to leave home and the first to marry. She loved fast horses and fast cars. She loved to go fishing, and she was a true "foodie." She loved sharing her delicious cooking with her family. Angie was an avid reader, and had a huge collection of cookbooks and other books. Angie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Andrea Daughtrey and Max Daughtrey of Duncan; son Timothy Randolph of Duncan; grandson Jared B. Schasteen of Durant; sister Helen Thomas and brother- in-law Kenneth Thomas of Marlow; sister Marilyn Morgan of Krum, Texas; brother David Newman and sister-in-law Inna and niece Helen of Duncan; sister, Rebekah (Becky) Graham and brother-in-law Dr. Ralph (Chip) Stokes of Mesquite, Texas; nephew Joshua Graham of Mesquite, Texas; great niece Lily Grace Graham, Mesquite, Texas; niece Marlynn Johnson and husband Ed Johnson of Lawton; great niece, Trinity Nichols of Lawton; nephew, Danny Lynn Tucker and wife Melody of Searcy, Arkansas; and niece Angilee Morgan Wilkerson and husband Dale Wilkerson of Denton, Texas. Angie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Randolph, her parents D.L. and Viola Newman, her brother Denver L., Newman, Jr. and her sister Margie Pickens.
