April 8, 1925 - July 12, 2011 Benjamin Robert (B.R.) Mann, 86, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Oklahoma City. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Eastside Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Couch and Rev. Toby Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. B.R. was born Wednesday, April 8, 1925 in Lindsay, to Jessie James William Mann and Frances Lavada (Crump) Mann. B.R. grew up in Lindsay and attended Hughes Consolidated Schools and Lindsay High School. He had lived in Marlow since 1962. B.R. married Joyce Jones in Lindsay on Nov. 4, 1944. He retired from Sun Oil as a refinery inspector after more than 35 years of service. During his time at Sun Oil he lived in various locations, including Africa. B.R. served as president of the Employees Union and deacon of his church. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor. He loved eating steak, gardening and serving his church. B.R. enjoyed traveling, seeing the world and loved going to Branson. He was a longtime member of the Eastside Baptist Church. Survivors include wife, Joyce Mann of the home, two sons, Gary Robert Mann of Marlow, Benny Lyn Mann and wife Mary Nell of Duncan, daughter, Linda Joy Mertens and husband Gary of Mustang, three grandchildren, Angela Woods and husband Ken of Ft. Hood, Texas, Greg Mertens and wife Becky of Springfield, Ohio, Howard Mann and wife Courtney of Duncan, great-grandchildren, Zach, Ashley and Justin Thomas Mertens, Ashley and Dustin Popejoy and Justin Robert Mann, two brothers, James Mann and wife Jean of Lindsay, Jess Mann and wife Lois of New Jersey. B.R. was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Justin Robert Mann, two brothers, Manuel Mann, Everett Mann, two sisters, Goldie Jones, Anna Bowen. Pallbearers will be Gary Robert Mann, Benny Lynn Mann, Gary Mertens, Greg Mertens, Howard Lyn Mann, Ken Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Greer, Norris Spencer, Harold Wilkes, Carl Barrington.
