Betty Lou Harris Obituary

Duncan - Betty Lou Harris, 74, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed from this life Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at the Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Antonio Richardson officiating and eulogy by the Rev. Les Richardson. Interment will follow in the Little Flock Cemetery near Elmore City, Oklahoma under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Betty was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Elmore City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Matthew Williams and Josie Franks. On May 13, 1994, Betty and Von Harris were united in holy matrimony in Wichita Falls, Texas, and he preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2022.

Throughout her life, Betty worked as a sales associate for Anthony's and Stage until her retirement. She also served as a teacher's assistant at Robert E. Lee Elementary School. She loved gardening, cooking, attending church functions, and most of all, spending time with her family - spoiling each and every one of them in her own way, especially her babies. She was a proud member of Stone Chapel CME Church under the Rev. Timothy McGee.

She was known to many as Betty Lou, Granny, and MawMaw, but to everyone, she was Aunt Betty. She will be remembered and deeply missed for her genuine spirit, endless love, warm hugs, and her delicious, tasteful cooking. Her prayers, her comforting smile, and her way of making everyone - especially the little ones - feel special left a lasting mark on all who knew her. The babies always got to do what they wanted, and she always made sure they had exactly what they asked for. And, of course, no one could ever beat her famous red Kool-Aid - the absolute best in the world.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

She leaves behind a loving family to honor her memory: her son Anthony Williams and wife Shelly of Ponca City, Oklahoma; her sister Ruby Gist of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; stepchildren: Joan (Robert) Langston, Leslie Harris, Chris Harris, all of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Timothy (Latisha) McGee of Bedford, Texas; grandchildren: Matthew Williams, Whitney (Micah) Franklin, Jamaal Williams, Chance Mayfield, Rachel (Kenric) Watson, Itavia Colbert, Makienda McGee, Topaz McGee, Gabriel McGee, and Ariyah Harris; great-grandchildren: Josh Franklin, Micah Franklin, Makiah Franklin, Solana Watson, Zayden Watson, Samiyah Mims, Adiyah Mims, Miles McGee, Kaydence Brown, and Jayla Harris; along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she touched with her love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit.
