Duncan - Bill Ray Armitstead, a life-long resident of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully Oct. 29, 2025, at the age of 91.

Bill was born Aug. 23, 1934, to Bishop and Valerie Armitstead. He graduated from Central High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Bill returned to Duncan and began a distinguished career in Information Technology with Halliburton. His vision and dedication were instrumental in establishing the company's technology center in Arlington, Texas. During his tenure, he also had the opportunity to work overseas, contributing his expertise and leadership to projects around the world. He retired from Halliburton after over four decades of service.

April 12, 1956, Bill married his high school sweetheart and soulmate Barbara Ann Bailey, in Duncan. Their marriage was a shining example of love, devotion and hospitality, lasting 62 wonderful years until Barbara's passing in 2018. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter and kindness - hosting countless family gatherings and social events that reflected Bill's generous spirit and his joy in bringing people together.

A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Bill's faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He believed in service, compassion and the importance of community - values that were evident in every aspect of his life.

Bill is preceded in death by his beloved with Barbara Armitstead; his parents Bishop and Valerie Armitstead; his sisters Helen Lockett and Delores Dennis; and his nephew Brad Bailey.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Winifred Bailey; 11 nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

In accordance with Bill's final wishes, Bill donated his body to medical science, hoping to contribute to the education of future doctors and the ongoing pursuit of cures for cancer. As there will be no formal memorial service, those who wish to honor his memory may do so through contributions to the American Cancer Society. There will be a graveside at a later day, pending the return of his remains.

Bill will be remembered for his unwavering love, generous heart and the countless lives he touched through friendships, faith and family.
