Comanche - Carroll "Duane" Yarbrough, a longtime resident of this area, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, at his home. He was 77 years old. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026 at the Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Bubba Clark officiating.

Duane was born Aug. 26, 1948 in Collinsville, Alabama, to E.T. and Joyce Yarbrough. He graduated from Benson High School in Benson, Arizona. Duane later moved to Riverside, California, before finally settling in Comanche in 1979.

Duane loved working on and restoring cars. He also enjoyed reading western novels, and he was an accomplished artist. In his younger days he was an avid water skier. Over the years he had many dogs, including Gracie, his constant companion. He and Janet Hurst were united in marriage, and had a daughter, Dana. Following her death, he later married Kathy Hall, and gained two bonus children, Misty and George.

Survivors include his children: Dana Yarbrough and life partner, Jerry Archer, Misty Teakell and husband Mike, and George Oyster and companion Christy. Also, a sister, Dee Taylor; nine grandchildren: Raylee, Jeremy, Jana, Audra, Michaela, Mason, Logan, Carter, and Garrett; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Janet, his second wife Kathy, and one brother, Dwight Yarbrough.
