April 12, 1921 - March 22, 2012 C.W. Apple of Comanche passed away on March 22, 2012, in the Lawton Ft. Sill Veterans Center, at the age of 90. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Randy Southerland officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, with full military honors presented by the Stephens County Combined Honor Guard, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday. C. W. was born April 12, 1921 in Comanche, to Charlie Powell and Myrtle Lela "Rice" Apple. He and Connie Stanley were united in marriage on July 15, 1941, and to this union three children were born. He began active duty in the U.S. Army Sept. 18, 1943 serving in WWII. He was Master Sgt. in the 1777th Engineer Construction Battalion. He worked as a construction foreman at Ft. Sill for over 25 years. Connie, his wife of 60 years, preceded him in death on March 8, 2001. He married Eula Irene Qualls on April 21, 2003, and they had been living at Westwind in Marlow the past three years. C.W. is survived by his wife Eula Irene of nine years; three children, Sherry Kinder of Collinsville, Karen Jones and her husband Jim of Edmond, and Chris Apple and his wife Jill of Plano, Texas; and nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews C.W. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Connie; two brothers, Elton and Lee; three sisters, Inez Hayley, Opal Cooper and DarlaAlene Doane; and son-in-law Joe Don Kinder. Family asks that in Lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to New Hope Baptist Church Youth Fund. Condolences may be sent to comanchefh@pldi.net.
