Charlotte Ann  Young
Charlotte Ann Young, 83, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away at her home on Monday, January 13, 2020. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 16, at New Hope Baptist Church West with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating and under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Charlotte Ann Young was born on January 6, 1937 in Faxon, Oklahoma to Charlie and Jewell (McKown) Woodall. Charlotte graduated from Faxon High School in 1954 as class Valedictorian. She married Ellis Young on November 27, 1954 and they would remain happily married for 41 years before he passed away on Feb 2, 1995. Charlotte would marry Melvin High on May 9, 1997 and they would be happily married for 15 years before he passed away on November 29, 2012. Charlotte worked as a homemaker and as a church secretary for Immanuel Baptist Church for over 26 years and for Mullins Baptist Association before retiring in 2006. She served, as Duncan's first City Council woman was Duncan's first Vice Mayor and served on the Hospital Board at Duncan Regional Hospital for a number of years. She enjoyed calling everyone she knew who had a birthday coming up, visiting the police department weekly to drop off fruit and candies, anything and everything to do with butterflies. She would take daily walks through Walmart to greet her friends and any stranger she would call a friend and see how their day was. Charlotte was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother she was a founding member of New Hope Baptist Church West.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her husbands; Ellis Young and Melvin High; her brother, Geary Woodall, and her parents Charlie and Jewell Woodall. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Todd and Becky Young of Waurika, Oklahoma, Melia and Lyndel Hines of Marlow, Oklahoma, Brent and Cathey Young of Irving, Texas; her step children, Jim High of Portland, Orgeon, Alicia and Hugh McDonald of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, Kathy and Doug Peterson of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association of Oklahoma, 6601 Broadway Ext #120, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
