Sept. 10, 1928 - Feb. 20, 2011 Daniel Warren "D.W." Walker, 82, of Duncan, died on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Duncan Regional Hospital in Duncan. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at City Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He was born Monday, Sept. 10, 1928, in Konawa, the son of James Walker and Effie (Bates) Walker. He married Averene Underwood on June 28, 1950, at Wynnewood. D.W. was a self-employed Petroleum Engineer and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He was also a member of City Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Averene, of the home; two daughters: Nancy A. Strange and her husband Dr. David Strange of Lubbock, Texas, and Vicki S. Parker of Waco, Texas; two brothers: J.E. Walker of Lane, and Bill Walker of Newcastle; a sister, Pat Nimmo of Duncan; four grandchildren: Matthew Parker, Jennifer Strange, Dennis Strange and Daniel Walker Parker; and four great-grandchildren: William Parker, Samuel Parker, Ruby Strange and Grace Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. Don Walker. Pallbearers will be Don Walker, Richard Nimmo, Ron Nimmo, Dennis Strange, Daniel Parker and Jim Dunn.
