Dee Lawrence "Opie" Burk Obituary

Dee Lawrence "Opie" Burk was born in Duncan Oklahoma August 28, 1965 to Barry Lynn Burk and Joyce Yvonne Burk. He went home to be with Jesus April 10, 2021 in Durant, Oklahoma.


Opie attended school in Bee, Nebraska, Military Academy in Salinas, Kansas and graduated from Empire school near Duncan in 1984. He attended Broadcasting School in Oklahoma City and worked as a DJ at weddings and parties for next several years.


Playing the drums was his lifetime passion. As a small child he would sit at the rodeos by the band and not move. He has played the drums in Churches, Prison, Mike Warnke concerts and cowboy services.


Opie was proceeded in death by his beloved grandparents Dee and Dorothy Burk and will be buried beside them in Comanche, Oklahoma.


He is survived by his son, Dalton Doshier of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, his father and step mother, Barry and Cheryl Burk of Durant, Ok, his mother and step father, George and Joyce Kernek of Purcell, his brother Blair Burk of Durant, his sister Bobbie Jo Wells of Davis, Ok., his uncle, Roy Burk and wife Melinda of Duncan and many friends from church, AA and ministries. He received his 28th sobriety coin on April 8, 2021.


Celebration of life will be held Friday April 23rd at 1:00 in pavilion at Comanche, Oklahoma cemetery and Saturday April 24th 1:00 at the Family Life Center - First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma.
