Duncan - Don Edward Chisum, 87, of Duncan, Oklahoma, departed this life July 27, 2026 at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at Faith Church with the Rev. Wayne Morrow and the Rev. David Morrow officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

A family visitation will be held from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Don was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Comanche, Oklahoma to J.B. and Opal "Hughes" Chisum. He was raised in Comanche and attended Comanche Schools, graduating from Comanche High School in 1957. Don served in the United States Army serving a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. He entered the service Nov. 19, 1964 and was discharged Nov. 8, 1966. Don married the love of his life Glenda Foster Jan. 13, 1967 in Duncan, Oklahoma and to this union were born six children: Tommy, Don, Telisa, Delana, Amanda and Cindy. Don worked for the City of Duncan for 32 years working in the Parks and Cemetery of Duncan. He and Glenda were charter members of Faith Church and were members for 5O years.

Don is survived by his wife, Glenda of the home; son: Don Chisum Jr., of Duncan; daughters: Telisa Chisum Sweat and husband Woodrow, of Rush Springs, Oklahoma, Delana Green, of Duncan, Oklahoma, Amanda Chisum West and her husband Mitch, of Geronimo, Oklahoma, Cindy Hopper, of Edmond, Oklahoma; his sister, Nancy Chisum, of Del City, Oklahoma, 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Don was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Chisum.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Cody Sweat, Micah Chisum, Shelby Chisum, Clayton Chisum, Mason Johnson and Tyler Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers will be Colton Cochran, Crista Sass, Jacob Sweat, Jordon Chisum, Tylyn Green, Paighton Johnson, Brian Harper, Jarren Chisum, Marcellus Kournty.

Full military honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
