Donald E. Sheppeard, 77, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Leticia Cemetery south of Pumpkin Center, with the Rev. Stephen Grace, Eddie Jackson and Melvin Sheppeard officiating. Arrangements are under the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Donald was born Nov. 18, 1938, east of Lawton to Melvin and Velva (Gamblin) Sheppeard. He was a farmer and was veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Donald Married LaVeta Faye Jones Nov. 9, 1952, in Lawton, Oklahoma and they separated in 1972.
Donald is survived by two sons, Charley Sheppeard of Temple, Oklahoma and Melvin Sheppeard of Duncan, Oklahoma; step-son, Orval Edward Jones of Norman, Oklahoma; two brothers, Carlis Sheppeard and Leon Sheppeard both of Duncan, Oklahoma; two sisters, Dorothy Altman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Christine Fletcher of Velma, Oklahoma.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruthie Goodin.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Sheppeard, Orval Jones, Charles D. Sheppeard, Eddie Jackson, Carlis Sheppeard and Matthew Biffle. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Downey, Danny Fletcher Sr., Randall Pitts, Leon Sheppeard and Randy Standridge.
Military Honors will be provided by the Stephens County Honor Guard.
