Amarillo, Texas - Doris Estellene Lewis, 96, of Amarillo, Texas, formally of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Amarillo.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Family visitation will take place from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Estellene was born April 24, 1929, in Stephens County, Oklahoma to Ollie Lee and Hattie Belle (Duncan) Knott. Estellene was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan and was a homemaker. she married Lester Cobb Lewis on April 19, 1950, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan.

Doris Estellene Lewis lived her life as if she had been physically present and listening intently when Jesus delivered His sermon on the mount to His disciples and the masses. Humble, kind, gentle, a peace maker - she was blessed. The lives of many who knew her or had the opportunity to meet her were also blessed because she quietly walked on this Earth. She possessed a quality rarely seen in today's world - that being the ability to love without judgement. Whether you were a family member, friend or random acquaintance, she met you with a smile and treated you with compassion.

Estellene had a large extended family who loved her and whom she loved dearly. The ultimate love of her life and soulmate was her husband of 63 years, Lester, who preceded her in death. She can now join him and her two daughters, who died at birth. Also preceding her in death were her parents and three siblings.

Still living are her two sons, Thomas and Mark. Thomas and his wife Sherrie have four children: Eric, Christy, Steve and Ricky. Mark has three children: Alyssa, Brandon and Cody. In addition to her grandchildren, Estellene also leaves behind a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren. She also has many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends who all loved her.
