Memorial services for George F. Schlagenhauser, 82, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Carter-Smart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Schlein, pastor of Westside Christian Church, officiating.
George died Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was born April 24, 1934, in Akron, Ohio to Joseph and Beulah Schlagenhauser. Later his father, Joseph married Daisy Abbott, who was a wonderful step-mother.
George served his country well by joining the U.S. Navy and sailing aboard the USS Hector during the Korean War.
In 1959, George married Imogene (Emma) Skiles, at the Lovers Lane Christian Church, in Akron, Ohio. They spent 57 years together traveling and enjoying life. His love of searching, restoring and repairing antique classic cars, created many friends and fun full days.
George is survived by his devoted wife (Emma) of the home. A sister; Betty Chance of New Franklin, Ohio. A brother-in-law, James and Brenda Skiles of Duncan, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews of Ohio. Special nieces and nephews; Cindy Staats and Brenda and husband Darrell Dillon of Canal Fulton, Ohio. Mark Skiles and Ria Remila of Seattle, Washington, Amy and husband Brian Loos of Seattle, Washington, Melissa and husband Keith Holman of Scottsdale, Arizona. Three special Goddaughters, Adenya Spivey, Angela Hearrell and Marqueta Hines of Duncan, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and his siblings, Donald Schlagenhauser and Joseph J. Schlagenhauser.
Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
