Grady Clayton "Bud" Hokit, of Comanche, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, December 9, 2022, at the age of 95. He was born on July 20, 1927 in Comanche to Earl B. and Sylvia (Brown) Hokit. He married Ann (Edwards) Hokit on September 24, 1952 in Henrietta, Texas. Ann preceded him in death on January 29, 2014.
Bud joined the United States Navy his junior year of high school. He served one year and four months before returning home to finish his senior year and graduate from Comanche High School in 1947. He worked at the Sun Ray Refinery, later Sunoco, for 32 years. After retiring he spent his days raising cattle, his life-long dream.
Bud was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, Buddy Hokit and wife Cathy of Duncan; three granddaughters: Lacy Ramirez and husband Abe, Lisha Elroy and husband Jeff, Lori Kidd and husband Aaron; 5 great grandchildren: Eli and Jayce Ramirez, Ella Kate and Knox Elroy, Grady Kidd; and many other loving family members and friends. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents; his sister, Billy Jane Garth; and his brother, Ronnie Hokit.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 12, at New Hope Baptist Church West, followed by interment at Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
