Lewisville, Texas - Iris "Peggy" Chatterji passed away Oct. 26, 2025, in Lewisville, Texas, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 82 years old.

Peggy was born in Saratoga, Wyoming in 1942, the third of five children of Brooks and Myrtie Plunkett. After graduating from Saratoga High School in 1960, Peggy worked in California before returning home to enroll in the University of Wyoming in Laramie. While there she met her future husband, Jiten Chatterji, who was earning a doctorate in chemistry. Peggy and Jiten were married in June 1967 in Fort Collins, Colorado and moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where they lived for the next 51 years. Their children, Dr. Robi Chatterji and Mark Chatterji, were born and raised in Duncan. In 2018, Peggy and Jiten moved to Dallas, Texas. Peggy moved to Lewisville, Texas in 2024.

Peggy was a longstanding member of the Assumption Catholic Church of Duncan, Oklahoma.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Jiten; her brother John Plunkett; and her sister Mary "Sandy" Stigall.

She is survived by her two sons and four grand-daughters.

A wake will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at the Carter Smart Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma.

A Requiem Mass will be held at the Assumption Catholic Church at noon on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Duncan, Oklahoma.
