Jason Thomas Byrd was born Nov. 23, 1973, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Karla and Tom Byrd and passed on to his Graceland, April 9, 2016, at 42 short years of age in Duncan, Oklahoma.

He attended Duncan Public Schools and graduated from Duncan High School 1992. After attending East Central State University in Ada, Oklahoma, and after working various jobs he found his true place in life in Ada, working with helping and caring for people with many different needs, any kids and all animals, not so much himself.

He was active with Special Olympics coaching and cheering them on, and participating in relay for life for his grandmothers, his sister and his dad. Like his favorite singer Elvis, Jason loved his mother, worked hard, played harder and left much too soon.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Ruth Bynum and Joe and Bonnie Byrd and many good friends.

Jason is survived by his son, Aaron of Tyler, Texas; his mom and dad, Tom and Carla Byrd, of Duncan, Oklahoma; brother, Justin Byrd, of Duncan, Oklahoma; a sister, Kandi Schuler, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; one niece and four nephews and many special and dear friends. His missed and loved.

Graveside funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the Duncan Cemetery with the Rev. Marvin Knox officiating, and arrangements are under the direction and family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Matt Summers, Mike Tusek, Sean Hurley, Brad Mowdy, Eric Chasteen and Jon Glover.
