Jerry Don Hunter Obituary
Marlow - Jerry Don Hunter, 95, of Marlow, went on to be with his Lord and Savior May 31, 2025, in the comforting presence of his family. Memorial services will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Buzzard officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb. Jerry was born Nov. 3, 1929, to Jess James and Zora Bell Hunter. He was born, raised and graduated in the small town of Dougherty, Oklahoma. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy after graduation. He returned to Dougherty after his service, where his sister helped to introduce him to a young woman, Betty J. Sears, during a Vacation Bible School. The two were united in marriage on Christmas Eve of 1950. Jerry and Betty moved in 1954 and spent 10 years living in Healton. They later settled in Central High where they shared the rest of their lives and raised their family. Jerry and Betty shared over 55 wonderful years together before she preceded him June 7, 2006. Jerry wore many hats throughout his life as a husband, father, rancher, farmer's mechanic, oil pumper, boat enthusiast and mayor of Central High. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 28 years for Cumming Sales before retiring. Jerry helped as a basketball coach to his daughters and always enjoyed cheering for his local teams, but his greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with and cheering on his grandchildren. Jerry was a member and deacon of the Central Baptist Church. He was a man of great faith and raised his family to share that faith. Jerry leaves a legacy in both his family and community that will carry on for generations. Jerry is survived by his daughters: Gayla Schone and husband Max, Lisa Blaine and husband Darrell; son-in-law John Rodgers and wife Diana; grandchildren: John and Denise Rodgers, Michelle and Jim Greene, Kandyce and Jermelle Cudjo, Chase and Taylor Rodgers, Wade Schone, Krista and Joshua Hallman, Jarilyn Blaine and William Blaine; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie and Jared Ainsworth, Alex Rodgers, Kyndell Rodgers, Charlie Greene, Harris Greene, Ria Grace Cudjo, Judah Cudjo, Ramey Rodgers, Reid Rodgers, Andrew Hallman, Elliott Hallman and Elizabeth Hallman; great-great-grandchildren: Calvin Ainsworth, Eli Ainsworth, Cece Rodgers and Harlem Williams; sisters: Evelyn McBee, Eva Smith, Susie Beavers and husband, Harold and Patrica Parker and husband, John; sister-in-law Michelle Hunter and numerous nieces and nephews.
