JJ "Joe" Seratte was born on July 12, 1925, to Leonard and Lois (Busby) Seratte in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on April 11, 2016, at the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center in Lawton, Oklahoma.
He married Jackie (Jones) Seratte on March 8, 1944, celebrating 67 years of marriage before her passing in 2011. Joe retired from the Duncan Laundry.
A graveside services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche, Oklahoma, with Chris Deal officiating, and arrangements are under the of direction and Family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Joe was a World War II veteran, serving our country in World War II attached to the 2nd Ranger Bn and a member of Rudders Raiders serving in Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern France, Central Europe and North Africa. While serving he received numerous medals including the Sliver Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Presidential Citation with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, European Victory Medal, African Victory Medal, Sliver Star, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
Survivors include a son, Don Seratte and his wife, Angela, of Comanche, Oklahoma; a brother, Riley Seratte, of Goshan, California; two sisters, Janice Wilson, of Duncan, Oklahoma, and June Price, of Duncan, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Sonya Ivester, of Comanche, Oklahoma, and Nancy Seratte, of San Jacinto, California; six grandchildren, Rayna, Christopher, Ryan, of Comanche, Oklahoma, David, of Virginia, Anitra, Ken and Tamara, of Washington; 13 great-grandchildren and many other family members.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Jackie; a son, Ron Seratte, of Everett, Washington; his parents, Leonard and Lois Seratte; brothers, Dude, Bill, Jimmy Don, Jack and Jakie Seratte.
