John Erwin "Mooky" Sanner Obituary

John Erwin "Mooky" Sanner left this earth to begin his eternal life in Heaven on July 7th, 2019. John was born in Duncan, OK to John Woodrow and Agnes Mable (nee Hlavaty) Sanner on November 17, 1935.

John was a proud member of the Duncan High School class of '55. He served as Vice President of his Sophomore Class in '53, playing basketball and football his sophomore, junior and senior years, lettering all three years. He was elected captain of his football team his senior year, escorting the Football Queen, his future wife, Bennie C. Todd, at Homecoming that year.

John married the love of his life, Bennie, on August 18, 1956. John and Bennie were blessed with four sons, Todd, Van, Darren and Scott. Over the last years as his memory faded away, John kept many lists of his sons and their families, constantly reciting their names. He tried desperately to remember his sons.

John worked at Halliburton Services for 25 years, finishing his career after 20 years at Menasco Aerospace in Euless, TX. John and Bennie moved back to Duncan in 2009 following his retirement from Menasco.

John was a member of Northside Church of Christ and Eastside Church of Christ in Duncan and North Richland Hills Church of Christ in Texas.

John coached "Mighty Mite" football at Irving and for many years at Horace Mann. He enjoyed camping, sports and most of all spending time with his boys and their families. John especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren perform in any school activity in which they were involved. He looked forward to any gathering of the Class of '55.

John is survived by his wife Bennie; his four sons, Todd (Cindy) of Duncan, Van (Cona) of Casper, WY, Darren (Penny) of Weatherford, TX, and Scott (Jeff) of Duncan; his four grandchildren, Mykel (Emily), Tyler, Miranda and Kent; a brother, Deuwain Sanner of Duncan; and a sister Shirley (Larry) Dorman of Duncan.

A memorial service is planned at a later date. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center.
