Abilene, Texas - John Thomas "Tom" Dolan, of Hastings, Oklahoma, was born March 8, 1956 in Beaumont, Texas to Jack Thomas and Nancy (Preece) Dolan. He passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 6, 2023, on a nature walk near his home. He was 66.

A memorial is planned for Monday, January 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the Whitt Funeral Home chapel with Bennie Grissom officiating. A second memorial for Tom Dolan is on Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel on the Hill at Abilene Christian University. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home/Oakcrest Cremation Center of Duncan.

Tom graduated from San Marcos (Texas) High School, received his Bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University and his Master's from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He started working at KGNZ Radio and KACU Radio at Abilene Christian where he was chief engineer. He also engineered ACU stations, KUF-TV7 and KACU FM. Tom worked in the Communications and Bible Department for Abilene Christian University for 17 years. He worked in communication and technology for Texas Tech University for 17 years, serving as the Associate Director in eLearning and Academic Partnership before his retirement in 2019.

On July 24, 1982, Tom married Toni Lynne Fuller at Buffalo Gap, Texas. Their family was complete with the births of their children - Jenny, Emily and Holly.

Tom enjoyed kayaking, camping, bird watching, making music, gadgeting, and traveling. He loved the outdoors and visited the beach in Port Aransas, TX nearly every summer since childhood. He was always involved with his local church and served on the LightSys board which provides mission technology support to missionaries all over the world. He was a member of Impact580 Life Church in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Tom was deeply devoted to his Lord and his family. He especially loved projects with his children and grandchildren. He was the "Director of Fun" and planned adventure-filled vacations to National and State Parks all around the country.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Dolan, Tom is survived by his wife of 40 years, Toni; children: Jenny and husband Anthony Signer of Duncan, Emily Dolan, Holly Dolan of Lake Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Audrey and Kipten Signer; brother, Michael and wife Rhonda Dolan of Plainfield, Indiana; sister, Catherine and husband Edward Knoll of Stephenville, Texas; sister-in-law, Sally Dolan; and numerous nieces and nephews around the country.
