Kelvin Hall, 49, of Stratford, Oklahoma passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, July 29, 2016.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean McKinney and the Rev. Randy Southerland, interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery, arrangements are entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Kelvin was born to Dean and Freda Hall March 20, 1967, in Duncan, Oklahoma. Kelvin had a lengthy law enforcement career. Kelvin spent 26 years of his life working in law enforcement in one capacity or another. His law enforcement skills and knowledge were vast and he was always so willing to share his knowledge and skills with anyone who needed him.
He went through the police academy in 1990. He started his career with the Duncan Police Department and moved on as sergeant and a K-9 handler for Marlow Police Department and Regional K9 Trainer for GEO Group Prisons for many years. Kelvin was well known and respected for his K9 dogs that he loved and trained. He passed on this knowledge too numerous K9 Officer teams in Oklahoma and across the country. He was the owner of Oklahoma K9 OPS and Company founder of Combat Ready Defense with Captain David Bailey and a reserve police officer with the Paul's Valley Police Department.
He began Kyokushi-Kai karate in 1986 and continued this training through 1995, when Dojo closed. He was able to test for his first dan in 2010. He continued this 24-year journey without fail. He never gave up on his goal in this art. He also earned his second dan in Hapkido in 2010. He became a DT instructor for the State of Oklahoma in 1994 and unlike any other instructor, he enjoyed it so much, he went back through the course as a student in 1995, 1996 and 1997. He also became an instructor in Krav Maga, Valencia Lameco. Gracie Combatives, Armor of St Michael, Casco Baton Corp. and an Instructor Trainer for Monadnock Police Training Council. In 2005, he was hired at CEET to be a full time law enforcement trainer. During this time at CLEET, he trained thousands of students in DT, LEDT, Patrol Tactics and Criminal Investigations. He was one of the most influential trainer the State of Oklahoma has ever had. He was Law Enforcement Instructor of the year as well as multiple inductions into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame.
None of these words could truly express the love and commitment he had to teaching officers. His dedication to lifelong learning and teaching has been passed on to thousands of students. His legacy in the State of Oklahoma will live on in law enforcement officers who had the privilege of training with this great man. He was a friend, teacher, mentor and most of all he was a brother in Blue.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy of the home; his parents, Dean and Freda Hall of Duncan, Oklahoma; a daughter, Amanda Storts and her husband Daniel of Duncan, Oklahoma; a son, Jacob Hall of Colorado; also Tristen Bell of Jacksonville, Florida, Jessica Davidson and her husband Ryan of Boulder, Colorado and Shannon Castor and her husband Jimmie of Velma, Oklahoma; grandchildren Adam Storts, Ava Davidson and Adley Castor.
Pallbearers will be Police Honor Guard in blue.
