Velma - Kitty Sue (Lowrance) Beavers, beloved wife, mother, Gran, and friend, passed from this life Sept. 16, 2025, surrounded by love. She was born Aug. 20, 1941, to Logan and Margaret Lowrance, who preceded her in death, along with her sister, Flora Diffie, and her nephew, Joey Diffie.
Kitty grew up in southern Oklahoma, where she attended Velma High School before graduating from Loco High School. Known for her remarkable skill and competitive spirit, she was a standout basketball player whose talent on the court was admired by many. She later attended the University of Oklahoma, pursuing a major in design.
In 1959, Kitty married the love of her life, Charley Beavers. Together, they built not only a marriage but also a life of hard work, faith, and devotion. For every day of their marriage, Kitty worked alongside Charley - there was truly nothing she could not do. From driving tractors and working cattle and working the head gate, she matched her husband's determination with her own. Their shared dedication built the successful CB Ranch, first in Velma and later in Duncan, where they made their home.
In 1989, Kitty and Charley were honored as the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year, and in 2019 they were also recognized as recipients of Stephens County livestock honorees - testimonies to their commitment to agriculture, community, and family values. Kitty also served as State Women's Leadership Chairman for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau for many years.
A founding member of New Hope Baptist Church in Duncan, Kitty lived her faith with quiet strength and steadfast service. She was a wonderful singer and a member of the church choir, lifting her voice in praise and encouragement.
Kitty also poured her heart into her community. She was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Kiwanis Club - where she loved working at Kiddieland with children - and the GFWC Owl Study Club, where her tireless spirit and devotion to service earned her the National Volunteer of the Year Award. Her warmth and generosity touched countless lives, both near and far.
Family was at the center of Kitty's heart. She adored her daughter Jill and son-in-law Toby Baldwin of Duncan; her grandson Cade Baldwin and his wife Ashley of Newcastle; and her great-grandson Charley Baldwin, who brought her endless joy. She loved her family with all her heart and would do anything for them, cherishing every moment spent together.
She is also survived by her devoted husband of 66 years Charley Beavers; her siblings Bruce Lowrance and wife Leigh Ann of Kingston, Oklahoma; Vernon Lowrance and wife Barbara of Phoenix, Arizona; and Angie Wishert and husband Ron of Bixby, Oklahoma. Kitty also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, including Bruce's daughters Teri and Wendi; Flora's children Meg and Monica; and Angie's daughter Amy.
To her family, Kitty was more than a wife, mom, and gran - she was a tireless supporter, a well of unconditional love, and an example of perseverance. To her community, she was a trusted friend, a dedicated leader, and a woman whose strength, warmth, and grace will always be remembered.
In keeping with her wishes, the family will honor Kitty with a simple graveside service, just as she always requested.
Family visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan and graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Duncan Municipal Cemetery officiated by family friend, the Rev. Randy Southerland.
Kitty's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the ranch she and Charley built, the church she helped establish, and the many lives she touched.
