Lajuana Pendley Obituary

Duncan - Lajuana Jo Pendley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 89.

Born Feb. 9, 1936, in Corum, Oklahoma to Jack and Cleta Burum, Jo graduated from Comanche High School. She met the love of her life, Bennie Pendley, on the Fourth of July in Comanche. Together they built a beautiful life in Duncan, Oklahoma, raising their family and creating memories.

Jo worked at Halliburton and later at Goodwill. She was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Duncan and Southern Hills Baptist Church in Chickasha. On Oct. 16, 2011, she rededicated her life to Jesus Christ at Harvest Fellowship Church in Leedey, Oklahoma.

Jo's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She could often be found cheering enthusiastically at sporting events to support her family members with fingers crossed, hunting for treasures at garage sales, or preserving precious memories through her scrapbooking. Her warm presence and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Cleta Burum, her brother Bruce Burum, her husband Bennie Pendley, and her granddaughter, Misty Pendley and Jenna Pendley Baker.

She is survived by her daughter Pamela Pendley of Chickasha, son and daughter-in-law Jackie and Kim Pendley of Duncan, grandsons and their wives Chad and Maranda Wilson of Perry and Cory and Lori Wilson of Omega, great-grandchildren Jordan and Hannah Wilson of Arnett, Avery Wilson and fiancé Brody Carls of Watonga, Adysen Wilson of Omega, Payton and Luke Wilson of Perry, Teagan and Tinley Baker of Duncan, and great-great-granddaughter, Scotland "Scottie" Wilson of Arnett.

Jo, known affectionately as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and devotion to family that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Marlow Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chad Wilson, Cory Wilson, Jordan Wilson, Luke Wilson and Brody Carls.
