Velma - Mr. Leonard Junior Jackson, age 88, of Velma, passed away Sept. 4, 2025, in Duncan, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Velma Baptist Church, officiated by his grandsons, Lance Norton and Landon Norton. Interment will follow at New Velma Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

Leonard was born Aug. 30, 1937, in Electra, Texas, to the late Leonard Lee Jackson and Nora Zona (Smith) Jackson. He grew up in Fox and graduated from Fox High School in 1955. Shortly thereafter, Leonard married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Faye Haney, June 11, 1955, in Healdton, Oklahoma.

Leonard excelled in life, complementing his dedication to family with a successful career in the oilfield, beginning shortly after his brief employment in aircraft construction. He enjoyed a long tenure as an Oilfield Foreman with Texaco/Chevron, retiring in 1999. A devoted family man, he cherished his time spent with his grandchildren, often taking on the role of keeping all the grandbabies following his retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, Leonard appreciated activities such as biking, walking, and golfing. His love for family was evident during vacations spent at state parks and in his unwavering support of his grandchildren's sporting events. He was also a regular participant at the Velma Senior Citizens Center, engaging in games of dominos and pool. Leonard sought to impart his knowledge to younger generations, teaching his grandsons chess and the fundamentals of investing in the stock market.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patsy Faye Jackson, who passed away Feb. 28, 2015; his daughter Georgina Leandra Laughlin; grandson Dylan Cade Anderson; and brother Gus Franklin Jackson.

He is survived by his daughters: Sonia Danette Norton and husband Steve, Deidra Faye Anderson and husband Mike, and Kimberly Gay Nichols and husband Jim; grandchildren: Jay Laughlin and wife Morgan, Landon Norton and wife Amanda, D'Raye Rochell and husband Kendal, Lance Norton and wife Staci, Jacobi Whatley and husband Braden, Reece Nichols, and Jace Laughlin; great-grandchildren: Ryder and Alexander Laughlin, Brynne, Braith, Dara, Maryn, and Ezra Norton, Kendie and Chanlie Rochell, Jensyn and Hawk Whatley, and Logan Laughlin and Jaylea Laughlin; brother Wayne Jackson and wife Jenna; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will include Jay Laughlin, Jace Laughlin, Landon Norton, Lance Norton, Reece Nichols and Kendal Rochell. Honorary bearers are Ezra Norton, Logan, Ryder and Alexander Laughlin, Braden and Hawk Whatley, Lawerence Smith and Brian Davis.

Visitation will be available from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025 at Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
