Tulsa, OK - In Loving Memory of Marilynn Jones-Parker

Jan. 11, 1948 - June 27, 2025

Marilynn Jones-Parker, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Friday, June 27, 2025, surrounded by family. She was 77 years old.

Born in Duncan, Oklahoma, Jan. 11, 1948, Marilynn was the youngest child of Betty and JB Butler. She was preceded in death by her two older brothers Bob and Jerry.

Marilynn was a proud mom to Justin, Matt, and Allison; a loving Nana to Kianna, Arianna, Harper, Mae, Paul, James, Keiaira, Kasen, and Kalena; and a doting great-grandmother to Lina. She held a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-laws Lisa and Mary, her son-in-law Edward, and all of her family.

After graduating from Duncan High School, Marilynn pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, ultimately earning her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology in 1982. Her work as a therapist and professor was deeply meaningful to her - she found true purpose in helping others grow, heal, and thrive.

Marilynn lived a full and vibrant life. She was a kind, gentle spirit who touched the lives of many, both in her local community and across the world. She had a boundless love for travel, meaningful conversation, and quiet mornings with a cup of coffee. Her appreciation for nature, her love of running, her insatiable curiosity as a reader, and her joyful presence made her a light in the lives of everyone who knew her.

She reminded us all to slow down, to appreciate the simple beauty of everyday life, and most of all - to love one another with patience, generosity, and grace. Marilynn was a shining example of compassion and resilience, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness and love.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marilynn always believed in the power of a wish under the full moon, and she would have loved for you to join us in making one in her honor. Please come celebrate her life with us at 6 p.m., Aug. 9, 2025, at 415 S Owasso Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74120. As we gather to remember her, we'll keep an eye on the sky, hoping to see the moon rise together with you by our side.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Red Cross. Marilynn was a longtime volunteer, and we believe that would make her happy.

Please contact her son Matt Jones by email with any questions regarding her Celebration of Life at matt@jonesplan.com.
