Mary Kathryn (Allen) Brown Obituary

Mary Kathryn (Allen) Brown, 75, passed from this life Thursday, February 1, 2024 at her home in Duncan.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday February 10th at First Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Henderson Harris Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

The family will host a viewing at Bailes-Polk funeral home form 6-8 PM on Friday February 9th.

Mary was born August 1, 1948, the daughter of Halbert McCoin and Gladys Allen. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1966 and married Gene Brown on February 5, 1967. She then went on to receive her Bachelor degree in Sociology from Cameron University. She became a Life Skills Instructor at the Red River Vo-Tech where she worked for 30 years before retiring. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed ceramics, gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist church where she served as a Deaconess and announcement clerk. She served on the Duncan School Board for five years and enjoyed making others smile with her witty humor and charismatic personality.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Alice "Varicee" Franklin.

Survivors include her husband Gene Brown of Duncan; children Jeffery Brown and wife Asheley of Lewisville, Texas, Jaime Brown of Carrollton, Texas; grandchildren Jaedon Brown Taylor, Devin Brown, Carter Brown and two sisters Eddie "Bettye" Brown, husband Gerald of El Paso, Texas and Alva "Diane" Stevenson of Duncan and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
