Mary Lou (Cummins) Nelson was born July 25, 1936, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Lloyd Xmas and Mary Irene (McGee) Cummins. She passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, with her family at her side in Duncan. She was 88.

Mary Lou attended LaCasa High School in Hollis. On Oct. 30, 1953, she married the love of her life, Earl Nelson, in Hollis. Their family was completed with the births of their three children: Mike, Marlon and Renee. Along with Earl, she owned and operated Nelson's Daylight Donuts for 17 years. She loved to tend her flower beds and flower pots. Mary Lou enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was a member of the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Garland Cummings; Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 71-plus years, Earl; children: Mike and wife Barbara Nelson, Marlon and wife Tina Nelson, Renee Pierce, all of Duncan; eight grandchildren: Megan Henderson, Mendy Slate, Garrett Nelson, Charity Nelson, Kieran Pierce, Alec Pierce, Ashley Earl, Whitney Gold; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, LB and Myrtle Ann Cummins; and sister, Callie Jimeson.
