Norman, OK - Matthew Tanner Cowan was born Sept. 23, 1983 to Ann Marie Aylor Cowan and Terry Dale Cowan. Matthew entered heaven Aug. 7, 2026.

Matthew grew up attending Noble Schools graduating in 2003. When he was young, he was active in Tae Kwon Do, where he achieved a blue belt, and Baseball. As he got older, he followed his father with his love of music. Terry passed down his musical skill of playing guitar. Terry has said today Matt developed his skill further than he was ever able to. He loved all types of music but heavily favored classic rock with bands like The Grateful Dead.

Family meant everything to Matt, and that love naturally included the family pets he cherished. Of all the roles he held in life, being Uncle Matt to Eva and Harlan was the one he treasured most and wore with the greatest pride.

Matthew is proceeded in death by his mother, Ann Aylor Cowan; Aunt, Nancy Early; Uncle, Arden Aylor; paternal grandparents, Eva Ruth and Dale Cowan and maternal grandparents, Edna and Clayton Aylor.

Matthew is survived by his father, Terry Cowan; sister, Erin Colwell and husband Derick; niece, Eva Colwell and nephew, Harlan Colwell.

A celebration of Matthew's life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman, OK. To leave online condolences please visit www.tribute.care.
