Rush Springs - Melvin Lee Spencer, 78, of Rush Springs, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services of Marlow.
Melvin was born April 22, 1947, to Johnnie and Pauline Spencer in Tucson, Arizona. He came to Rush Springs in 1959, where he was raised by Melvin "Pete" and Emma Lou Henderson Loyd. Melvin married the love of his life, Connie White, Aug. 28, 1966, in Byers, Texas. They shared 57 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death. Melvin served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Giessen, Germany where he drove fuel tankers. Melvin continued working as a truck driver after returning home, most recently working for O&S Trucking. Melvin enjoyed going to the Rush Springs Senior Citizens and spending time with his fellow community members. He was a member of the Vimy Ridge Baptist Church. He leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by his family and friends.
Melvin was survived by his daughter Cindy Anderlohr and husband Brent, of the home; five grandchildren: Jimmy Anderlohr of Boley, OK, Courtney Fish and husband Stephen of Rush Springs, Emmalee Chisum and significant other Houston Skaggs of Duncan, Madison Whittington and husband Austin of Comanche and Tessa Williams and husband Sean, of Crosby, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren: Brayley, Kendallyn, and Axton Fish, Lucas and Olivia Alcantar, Millie Skaggs, Wiley and Jacob Whittington, and Dextin and Tripp Williams; brother Clifford Spencer and wife Pam, of Duncan; sister Hazel Hernandez of Tucson, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents Johnnie and Pauline Spencer, his parents Pete and Emma Lou Loyd, and his wife Connie Spencer.
