Nolan Combs Obituary

Nolan Combs, 85, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Wilkins Nursing Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Immanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Billy Morgan officiating, interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Comanche and arrangements are under the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Family and friends' visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Carter-Smart Funeral Home.

Nolan was born May 18, 1930, in Comanche, Oklahoma, to Ocie and Elizabeth (Hays) Combs. Nolan was the Comanche City Manager from 1975 until his retirement, and also was the Waurika City Manager. He owned the Comanche Body Shop until 1975 when he became the Comanche Manager. Nolan married Joyce March 18, 1951, in Henrietta, Texas and she preceded him in death in 2004. Nolan was a volunteer Fire Fighter and a 32nd degree Mason in the Masonic Lodge in Comanche. He was also a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Combs of Duncan, Oklahoma; a daughter, Donna Dodson and husband Paul Wayne of Duncan; brothers, Buddy Combs and his wife Mary of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Russell Combs and his wife Martha of Comanche, Oklahoma; sisters, Elaine Wilkerson and her husband Russell Leon of Duncan, Oklahoma and Glenna Popp of Comanche, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tammy Newby of Duncan, Oklahoma, Divine (Combs) Albin of Lawton, Oklahoma; great-grandchild Cheyenne Newby of Duncan, Oklahoma.

Nolan was preceded in death by his parents, Ocie and Elizabeth Combs, his wife Joyce, and sisters Phyllis and Lucretia.

Pallbearers will be Sunday school class members.
