Rev Paul S Duncan Obituary
Broken Arrow, Ok - "For we walk by faith, not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7
The Rev. Paul S Duncan, 76, passed away peacefully July, 4, 2025 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born June 10, 1949 in Dallas, Texas.
Paul is preceded in death by his identical twin brother Perry; an older brother Donald; and his parents Don and Betty Duncan, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He is survived by his partner of 40 years Sherry Duncan, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a daughter Catherine Duncan, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son Donald Paul Duncan, of Gardnerville, Nevada and two step-daughters: Staci Toole, of Chipley, Florida and Jamie Martin, of Catoosa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Paul graduated from Oklahoma University and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. He served Presbyterian churches in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Duncan, Oklahoma, Wichita Falls, Texas, Lake Charles, Louisiana and Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Paul loved people, the young and the young-at-heart. He never backed down from a challenge like turning the entire sanctuary around in Duncan while preserving the beautiful stained glass windows. He initiated the development of an accredited after school program and looked forward to weekly Youth Club gatherings. Summertime meant putting on his camp counselor hat and winter meant planning church group snow skiing trips to Colorado. His favorite family vacations were spent at the beach. During his younger days Paul was a fierce competitor at hand ball and racket ball. He also shared his brown belt karate skills with youth groups. Paul enjoyed breeding Golden Retrievers but one named Abbie held a special place in his heart. His active ministry was cut short by the onset of a progressive eye disease that depleted him of his eyesight. The last year of his life gave him the opportunity to provide loving nursing home support by leading bible studies and worship. Paul Duncan was a courageous man who loved the Lord and served Him with humility and a grateful heart.
Per Paul's wishes no service is planned. Paul's ashes will be put to rest in the Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Online condolences may be sent to okiebeachbum@gmail.com. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
