Robert Terrell Evans was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Hope, Arkansas to Robert and Hattie Yeager Evans. He reunited with his bride in eternal life on May 13, 2017, at the age of 93.

A memorial services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in the Don Grantham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy L. Wilson officiating. Services are under the direction of the Don Grantham Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother George Evans.

Bob graduated from high school in Antlers, OK at age 16 and attended Wilburton Junior College for two years until the United States Army called him to duty in World War II. After three years of honorable service he continued his education at Oklahoma A&M University where he received his engineering degree in 1948. After graduation he joined Halliburton Services in Midland, TX and remained employed with the company until his retirement in 1985 in Duncan.

Bob met the love of his life at a New Year's Eve party in 1954. He and Lelia Mclaughlin were married just a few months later on April 3, 1955. They spent 59 wonderful years together until her death in 2014. He never stopped missing her. From their union came three children: Donna Varnell and husband Billy of Marlow, OK, Melissa Denton and husband John of Gainesville, TX and Mike Evans and wife Angie of Duncan. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Megan Varnell, Maisey Covington and husband Kary, Somer Sleeman and husband Bryan, Sarah Denton, Nick Evans and fiancé Brenda, Robby Evans and wife Mikalah, Cody Evans and Jennifer Evans and five great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or the Stephens County Humane Society.
