Rodney Kevin Gilleland Obituary

Oklahoma City - Rodney Kevin Gilleland was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, May 30, 1959, to Durwood Charles and Shirley Loretta (Raab) Gilleland. He passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, in Oklahoma City with his family at his side. He was 66.

Viewing will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Whitt Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, the Assumption of Blessed Mary Catholic Church in Duncan with Father Oby Zunmas officiating. Interment will follow in the Loco (OK) Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Dennis Nance Jr., Joe Gilleland, Darren Thomas, Doug Gilleland Jr., B.J. Galloway, and Steven Jones; honorary pallbearers are Doug Gilleland and Kevin Saxby.

Rodney graduated from Purcell High School with the Class of 1978. He then attended some classes at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha. He was employed as an IBEW electrician. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His handiwork included making walking sticks and canes. The pastime that meant the most to Rodney was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda Gilleland, Rodney is survived by his children: Dennis Nance Jr., of Loco, and Billy Jo-Ann Yates of California; and six grandchildren: Aiden Nance, Ethan Nance, Mack Nance, Matthew Nance, Domonic Yates, and Brittney Yates. He is also survived by two brothers: Doug and wife Karen Gilleland, of Dibble, Joe and wife Jennifer Gilleland, of Blanchard; four sisters: Jackie Galloway, of Stillwater, Theresa Tallant, of Connecticut, Barbara Hager, of Blanchard, Jana and husband Kevin Saxby, of Tulsa; and a host of nieces and nephews.
