Ruby Gallagher Obituary

Duncan - Ruby Gallagher, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend passed away peacefully Aug. 25, 2025, at the age of 96. Born Aug. 8, 1929, in Bailey, Oklahoma, Ruby was a woman of prayer, deep faith, unwavering love and a devotion to her family that touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was a member of Bethel Church, in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at the Bethel Assembly of God in Duncan, with Ron Meador and Bradley Jones officiating. Burial will follow at the Marlow Cemetery. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Gallagher; son-in-law Wayne A. Mitchell; parents B.W. and Bessie Russell; brother and sister-in-law the Rev. Walter (Ernest) and Fannie Russell.

She is survived by: her son John W. Gallagher and wife Deborah; daughter Nancy Mitchell; two grandchildren, Sean and wife Angela Gallagher and Micale Gallagher; four great-grandchildren, Grant and Evan Gallagher, Harrison and McCartney Lyons; two sisters, Flo Crosby and Joy Russell; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom she held dear to her heart.

A godly woman, Ruby's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did, from offering a listening ear, praying or sharing words of wisdom and encouragement. She was a constant source of strength and love to those around her.

She traveled extensively, and never imagined her life journey would lead her to live in Europe, Asia and Africa. Though she enjoyed the time she spent in each country, Malta was very dear to her heart. While living in Malta, where there were only five young Christians, they knew of: "We opened our home and hearts to them. They became like family to us, and it was our joy to encourage them in their faith, and walk alongside them during that special season of life."

Although Ruby has been called home, her legacy of love, prayer, faith and family will live on in the hearts of those she left behind. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will be cherished forever by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rest in peace, Ruby, you are loved beyond measure and never will be forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Don Cantwell, Terry Chasteen, Virgil Davis, Gerald Morris, Chris Craven and Gary McCarley.
