Velma - Sherry Ann (Whisenhunt) McClanahan, 67, of Velma, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully July 26, 2025, at Cottonwood Creek Nursing Facility in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She was born Feb. 21, 1958, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Paul Clinton and Willie Beatrice (Meek) Whisenhunt.

Sherry shared 50 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Gary Robert McClanahan. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who found joy in life's simple pleasures. Sherry had a passion for music and movies, enjoyed crafting and treasured the time she spent with Gary. Her warm presence and loving spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Clinton Whisenhunt and Willie Beatrice (Meek) Whisenhunt; her brother, Benny Paul Whisenhunt; and her sisters: Ellouise Bishop Cheatwood and Elnora Bishop Towell.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Gary McClanahan of the home; her son, Robert Clinton McClanahan; her daughter, Lois Marie Stine; her brothers: Willie "Rusty" Whisenhunt, Berry Paul Whisenhunt, and "Sonny" Lee Allen Bishop; her granddaughter, Ashley Dawn Gadbow; her grandson, Blake Eugene Stine; her great-grandchildren: Taylor, Wynter, Elijah, Isaac and Levi; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sherry's legacy of love and devotion to her family will be cherished forever. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of life potluck will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 201 N. 2nd St., Duncan, Oklahoma.
