Ratliff City, OK - Graveside services for Vern Cline Evens Jr, 78, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Pooleville Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Johnston officiating.

Vern was born Dec. 5, 1946 to the late Vern Evens Sr and Leah Morgan Evens. He departed this life June 11, 2025.

Vern graduated Fox High School in 1965 and later entered the Army. After years of service, Vern received an honorable discharge in January 1972. Returning to his hometown, he started working in the oilfield, which led him to a successful career in welding. Vern demonstrated a strong work ethic and took pride in his work and owning his own welding business. Vern worked hard but also took time for family and friends. Vern married Linda "Sue" Evens Oct. 12, 1984 and the two were inseparable.

Vern grew up raising horses and had a passion for all animals, especially the "out of the ordinary" pets such as a mountain lion, python, raccoons and the list goes on and on. Vern loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping and fishing with friends, riding 4-wheelers with family and restoring classic cars.

Preceding him in death are parents Vern and Leah Evens; wife Linda "Sue" Evens January 13, 2024.

Survivors include daughter Shawnie Sager of Comanche; son Sonny Evens and wife Gwen of Duncan; bonus children Mark Ward and wife Kari of Kingfisher and Markeita Firestone of Countyline; grandchildren Dennis Thacker and wife Brittany of Velma, Chelsea Towler of Countyline, Shawnda Westlund and husband Alex of Chickasha, Michael Evens and wife Sara of Duncan and Kurston Lakey and husband Justin of Duncan; sister Betty Evens Jantz of Frisco, TX and numerous precious great-grandchildren.
